This is Proboards. It doesn't matter what name you register with. We'll change it for you after you are accepted. However, the administrators recommend registering only your character's first name for easy log in. The code word is peaches. It makes it a lot simpler for you, though really it makes no difference to us whatsoever!
If you're interested in playing one of our lovely canon characters, please reserve the character before you get to work on their bio. This way we can make sure that you don't lose your claim if somebody else manages to get their application finished before you get yours finished. We'd hate to see something like that happen to you!
Please remember that each student must also have a horse. You have two options for doing this: You may either bring your own horse with you to the Ranch or you can adopt one of the adoptable rescue horses that are available in the claims section. Adults don't have to have a horse in order to be on the faculty. It doesn't make sense for staff not to have a horse though!

This means that we allow swearing (but not abusive swearing by any means!), only very mild sexual innuendo, but nothing explicit, and that violence is permitted on the site. Actually, you know what? I like apples better.

Like most sites these days, we do have standards for posting. We consider ourselves to be semi-literate, which means that while we do have a minimum posting criteria, we're not going to go all geurilla on you if you aren't perfect in your writing. After all, we all have improvements that we can make in our writing (yes, even the best of us!). Just please try to keep your posts at least 100 words. That's one or two paragraphs, depending on their length.
For what it's worth, a paragraph has no real set number of sentences. You're free to make them as long or as short as you like, but I'd like to make a note that paragraphs over four lines of text tend to be difficult to read on a computer screen, especially in smaller fonts. You might want to take this into consideration and dismiss all that advice you've gotten to make your paragraphs 6-8 sentences. Sure, you can do that if you're stuck on the idea of it. But I would prefer to see you make your paragraphs as long as they need to be, and not longer.
Roleplaying is done in third person and in past tense. Most books are written this way. For example, I might say something like "Brody stopped just short of heading into the stables, thinking about what he was really doing here." That is third person and past tense. If I said instead, "I stop just short of heading into the stables, thinking about what I'm really doing here," then I'm writing in first person present tense. Get it? If not, PM me or ask in the Cbox.
No Metagaming/Character Controlling. This should be pretty obvious, but I ask that you please just not do it. Nobody likes to have their character controlled by someone other than themselves. If you need to character-control, please get permission to do so and the have both members contact the admin account via the sidebar to the left. This is so that we can verify.
No Power Playing. The person taking the hit decides whether or not it has landed, not the person who is delivering the hit. You can attempt to strike another character, but only they can decide whether or not they have actually been struck.
No God Moding. If your character gets into a fight with someone, be realistic. You're not the most powerful person in the school. You're going to take a hit now and again!

We'd prefer not to have a lot of drama going on around here. Show others the proper respect and treat them the way that you'd want to be treated. If you have an issue with someone, deal with it in PM rather than in the CBOX. If your drama spills over into the OOC boards or the CBox, you'll be warned and possibly banned. Keep it in private, please!

There isn't any limit to the number of characters that you're allowed to play, but we do ask that if you play more than three students that you play at least one instructor or teacher. Please bear in mind that a school can't function without faculty to run it. Sorry for the confusion. I think I'd like to make that a blackberry pie. We also ask that for every two characters you have of one gender that you have at least one of the opposite gender. Let's try to keep a balance here.
You will need to have your bio approved before you post in the role play areas. Please keep this in mind. I know it's a hassle to wait, but we're generally pretty quick about getting to them, so try to relax and take it easy. We'll get your bio approved, usually within twenty-four hours of your having submitted it. If you have questions, use the cbox.
We do ask that your first character have at least twenty posts before you create your second character, and that your second character have at least fifty posts before you make your third character, etc. This way we know that your babies will be kept active!

If you join our site, please be prepared to post actively in the role play boards. We don't do ICC role play. Everything takes place on the boards. Plotting and shipping don't count as role playing! These areas don't count your posts. These are great tools and we love them as much as the next guy, but please be prepared to actually do the writing part of the game. This is what we're all about, after all!

This template was made by myself H O L L E Y. You can find the template for this at the wonderful CAUTION TO THE WIND. Please do not steal, it's not cool cause I spent a lot of time making something of my own for once.
