[/SIZE][/COLOR][/div][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] [/center]Charlie has been at Brook Haven for a few weeks now, and she's really just beginning to get comfortable with the idea of being here. She knows that there are some really deeply troubled students at the school, but she prefers to try to pretend as though everybody is just like her. It's easier that way, and it makes her significantly more comfortable with the world she lives in (which often seems to simply be a world that she possesses all on her own.
Although she's intelligent and can be downright shrewd when the situation calls for it, Charlie isn't motivated by education or its rewards. Grades mean almost nothing to her and she's more interested in the activities in the stables than she is in going to classes with the other students. She'd much, much prefer to be riding or to be doing what she can to help care for the horses.
Much like the Ranch owner of the same name, Charlie has a real gift with animals, though she's especially good with horses (and prefers not to be around dogs at all). She's the type of person who can get a songbird to eat out of her hand and she has a way of gentling the most riled up horse. It's just too bad that she doesn't have the same kind of talent with people.

Over the past two years in particular, Charlie has gotten very used to not having any real friends. It was disappointing at first, but she's learned not to let it bother her too much. It was hardest when she didn't have a horse, but now that she has Demi, she's relaxed a bit more, and finds it easier to be social when she's in the stables than when she's anywhere else on the grounds or in class.
Whatever she may say, however, Charlie really does want to have friends. She could do with having at least one close male friend at the Ranch, somebody she can lean on but who understands that she has a very deep commitment to a boy back at home and that she's not interested in anything more than friendship.
She doesn't get along well with other females, mainly because she finds them catty. Charlie's the type of girl who would prefer to hang out in the middle of a group of boys than to have girl talk or slumber parties. It would be nice for her to eventually have one very close female friend that she can relate to, but it will be a real uphill battle to get her to that point with anyone.

Charlie's known to be super catty with girls. She doesn't expect anything good to come of a relationship with one of them and she doesn't like to be surprised by them. She's not the kind of girl who likes to dress up and think about makeup. She's a horse girl through and through and it shows, since she's usually in jeans and boots with her hair in a pony tail or a braid. Theres often dirt somewhere on her clothing, since she spends as much time as she can in the barn doing whatever she can to help.
This makes Charlie a natural target for the cattier girls. It makes sense that those with a princess complex would make fun of a girl who doesn't care how she looks (and sometimes how she smells) because she's so busy doing what she really loves to do. It's the type of thing that they might understand when they're older, but for right now most of the girls on the ranch are potential candidates for enemy status with Charlie.
It's also very possible that girls will find her annoying because she's often at the center of a group of boys, opening up more with them than she will with the girls. Since she has the attention of the boys, there's a lot of room for petty jealousy with the girls at the Ranch, even though Charlie's very definitely taken and doesn't have any desire to stray.

Charlie has a real way with horses. She's almost always in the stables when she isn't in class and she's glued to the other Charlie (Brook), doing everything she can to learn whatever she can. Already she's on her way to earning computer privileges, but that's not why she does it. She works as hard as she does because she believes in what she does. She has a close relationship with the stable owner back home and with her father, both of whom she writes to regularly (along with her boyfriend, Ken).
Other students may find Charlie visiting their horses. She's especially fond of the more difficult animals and she doesn't care that she's been warned fifteen times that they're dangerous. Her love of horses is what drives her in everything that she does and it's the one thing that might eventually motivate her to work on her school work. It's why her father sent her to Brook Haven; She's not difficult, but she's not motivated either.
There's room for tension in this department, especially if Charlie is having better luck with a student's horse than they are. She won't always ask permission to visit a horse and she won't always be nice if you try to stop her in the middle of her visit because you want to take care of your own animal. At the same time, she might very well get great results.

Charlie is in love with her step brother. It's not something that she hides, since she'll very readily admit that she's involved in a long distance relationship. But the reason that she's so open about her relationship is mostly due to the fact that she doesn't want to get involved while she's away. It would kill her if something happened with Ken while she was gone and she couldn't stand the thought that she might wind up being the unfaithful one.
What she doesn't tell people is that her boyfriend is also her step brother. They were dating before their parents became involved with one another, and it's been awkward living in the same house. Charlie's dad is all over her like white on rice when they're at home together, but now that she's at Brook Haven, things are different. Sometimes she cries herself to sleep over her letters to Ken, and waiting for a letter back from him.
Kenneth also has a six year old daughter who was born when he was only twelve years old, to a girl who was four years older than him. She's dead now, and they are taking things slowly. Charlie is still a virgin, but she's been thinking about sleeping with Kenneth.

Charlie's currently in a relationship to which she's very committed. She's convinced that she and Kenneth are going to get married as soon as she graduates from high school, though her father and his mother have other ideas. They exchange letters and post cards all the time though and remain very close.
There's some room for a former boyfriend of Charlie's, however. She grew up mostly in Georgia and South Carolina, so if there's a boy from that area, it's possible that maybe they've dated. A former Internet romance might also be interesting, particularly if they don't know who the other is at first. Formers can be a lot of fun!
